
Pirates Conclude Play In Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – East Carolina finished tied for 13th place at the General Hackler Championship after shooting 31-over-par 895 across three rounds at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. The Pirates carded 18-over 306 in Tuesday's final round.

Stephen Carroll and Patrick Stephenson posted the Pirates' best final round with matching scores of 1-over 73. Carroll finished with a 54-hole score of 7-over 223 to tie for 48th along with teammate Blake Taylor, who carded the team's lowest round of the tournament with a 3-under 69 in round one.

Stephenson finished one stroke behind his teammates, tied for 53rd at 8-over 224. A.J. Beechler fired a 16-over 232 and tied for 76th with Attie Giles tying for 78th at 17-over 233.Â

North Carolina claimed the team title at 21-under-par 843, 13 strokes ahead of second-place Liberty, with Coastal Carolina's Zack Taylor winning medalist honors at 8-under 208.

ECU also sent its "B" team to compete in the Bash at Beach and Surf Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach where it placed 10th at 14-over-par 878. The Pirates recorded their best round of the event Tuesday, closing out the tournament with a 5-over 293.

Jack Massei posted a three-round score of 2-over 218 and finished tied for 36th. Chris Akers carded a 3-over 219 to tie for 38th with Jimbo Stanley firing a 4-over 220, finishing tied for 43rd. Connor Jones placed 58th at 7-over 223 and Chris Sperrazza tied for 66th at 9-over 225.Â
Jacksonville State and UNCW finished tied atop the leaderboard at 22-under-par 842.

The Pirates will return home to host the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley on Monday and Tuesday, March 16-17.Â
