
Kristen Stege Qualifies For NCAA Championships

GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU freshman Kristen Stege has qualified for the 2020 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in Athens, Ga., March 18-21. Stege will compete in the 500 freestyle on Thursday, March 19 and the 1650 freestyle on Saturday, March 21.
The Naperville, Ill., native captured the gold medal in the 1650 freestyle at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships with a school and conference championship record time of 16:11.96. She also set the ECU record in the 1000 freestyle (9:46.50) en route to her first individual American championship.
Stege, a multi-event all-conference swimmer, also claimed the bronze medal in 500 freestyle with an ECU record time of 4:43.85.
During the 2019-20 season won the 500 freestyle three in dual meets against South Carolina and UNCW as well as William & Mary.
