October 15, 2021 | Men's Golf
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina men's golf team travels to Raleigh to compete in the 2021 Wolfpack Intercollegiate at the par-72, 7,358-yard Lonnie Poole Golf Course Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 16-17.
Teams are slated to play the first and second rounds on Monday, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The second round will begin immediately after completion of the opening round. Tuesday's third and final round will also begin at 8 a.m.
The Pirates' lineup includes seniors A.J. Beechler, Nicolas Brown and Stephen Carroll along with juniors Connor Jones and Chris Sperrazza. The Pirates finished fifth at the event, which wasn't held last season, in 2019 with Beechler shooting 2-over-par 218 and Carroll carding a 5-over 223.
ECU has played in just two events this fall with Beechler, Carroll and Sperrazza competing in each tournament. The trio has three of the four lowest scoring averages on the team this season. Brown and Jones will be making their season debuts this weekend.
Carroll is coming off a 2-under-par performance at the Old Town Club Collegiate Classic in Winston-Salem two weeks ago.
The Pirates will play alongside Cincinnati and Southern Miss in the first two rounds. Host NC State, Campbell, Eastern Michigan, Elon Furman, George Mason, High Point, James Madison, Lipscomb, UNCG, UNCW, Virginia Tech and Wofford complete the 16-team field.
