GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina reaches the halfway point of its American Athletic Conference schedule this weekend, hosting Tulane and Houston inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.

Friday's match will be streamed live via ESPN+ while Sunday's contest is available free of charge through Pirates All-Access.

ECU (7-10, 3-5 AAC) dropped a pair of competitive matches at Wichita State and Tulsa last weekend. The Pirates led the Shockers two sets to one but could not hold off the home side in a five-set loss. East Carolina also held two set points in the third against the Golden Hurricane but fell in extra points before surrendering the fourth stanza by four.Â

The Pirates enter the weekend in sole possession of eighth place in the league standings, just two matches back of a cluster of 5-3 teams in Wichita State, Tulane, Tulsa and SMU.

Senior right side Bri Wood is currently in sixth place on the ECU career list for kills with 1,161. Additionally, she needs just four more digs to become the sixth player in program history to record 1,000 kills and digs.

East Carolina is 4-3 at home this season with wins over Gardner-Webb, Appalachian State, Memphis and Temple as well as losses to UTRGV, SMU and Cincinnati.

The Competition
Tulane (12-8, 5-3 AAC) split its matches last weekend at home, defeating Memphis in four sets before falling to SMU in five. Mackenzie Martin was named to the league's weekly honor roll for averaging 6.78 digs per set. She tallied 39 in the loss to the Mustangs. The Green Wave are ranked second in the American Conference in hitting percentage (.234) and fifth in aces per set (1.45).

Houston (16-4, 6-2 AAC) sits in a second-place tie with Cincinnati entering its Friday night matchup with the Bearcats. The Cougars dropped a four-set decision to SMU last Friday before sweeping Memphis Sunday. Houston is tops in the league in opponent hitting percentage (.175) while slotting second in blocks per set (2.35) and aces per set (1.79). Abbie Jackson put up 4.93 points and 3.14 digs per set in two matches last weekend to earn a spot on the weekly honor roll.

The Tulane Series
Tulane leads the series with East Carolina by a 20-6 margin and has won three of the last four meetings. The Pirates took the most recent encounter, rallying from two sets down to defeat the Green Wave in New Orleans back on Oct. 26, 2019.

The Houston Series
East Carolina trails Houston in the series between the programs 17-8. The Pirates have defeated the Cougars seven of the last 10 times the programs have played, including a four-set victory at Minges Coliseum Sept. 28, 2018.Â
