GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina heads out on its penultimate road trip of the 2021 fall season this weekend, facing off with Houston Friday and Tulane Sunday. Both matches will be streamed via ESPN+ and will begin at 2 p.m.
Â
The Pirates split their contests last weekend, defeating South Florida 3-1 before falling to league leader UCF in three sets.
Â
ECU (9-14, 5-9 AAC) sits in an eighth-place tie with Memphis and will look to make a push up the standings during its last six league matches.
Â
The Pirates knocked off Houston in the teams' previous matchup in Greenville back on Oct. 24, rallying from two sets down to complete the reverse sweep of the second-place Cougars. East Carolina dropped a 3-2 decision to Tulane two days prior to that.

The Competition
Houston (21-5, 11-3 AAC) defeated Wichita State 3-2 and Tulsa 3-0 last weekend to maintain second place in the league standings. Kate Georgiades was tabbed the AAC Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts, averaging 6.62 digs per set. She tallied 39 digs in the victory over the Shockers. The Cougars lead the American Conference in opposing hitting percentage (.178) and are second in blocks per set (2.32) and service aces per set (1.79).
Â
Tulane (15-11, 8-6 AAC) swept Tulsa but lost 3-0 to Wichita State last weekend. The Green Wave's Kayla Dinkins was tabbed to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after putting up 1.67 blocks per set and 3.92 points per set. Tulane rates second in the conference in hitting percentage (.243).
