LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore sprinter Melicia Mouzzon capped a successful indoor season by capturing a pair of event titles over the weekend at the Darius Dixon Memorial.

Mouzzon won her heat in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.56 to advance to the finals where she topped the field and improved her mark to 7.51. She also took top honors in the 200-meter dash, clocking in at 24.57.

Mackenzie Whitaker placed 14th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.22.

In the 60-meter hurdles prelims, Brooke Stith clocked in at 8.85 to advance to the finals but did not compete in that second race.

In terms of field events, Sommer Knight slotted sixth in the pole vault with an effort of 3.96 meters. Brooke and Bria Stith also took part in the long jump, placing 15th and 19th respectively.

On the men's side, lone competitor Niejel Wilkins claimed second in the triple jump (15.25 meters) and 10th in the long jump (6.36 meters).

East Carolina will kick off its outdoor campaign March 26-27 at the Raleigh Relays.
