
Four Pirates Named To NABC Honors Court

GREENVILLE, N.C. — Four East Carolina University men's basketball players were named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court after excelling in the classroom during the 2020-21 season, it was announced by the organization on Tuesday. It marks the fourth consecutive year that ECU has had at least one player named to the NABC Honors Court. This year's four selections are the most in program history.Â

The foursome of honorees consists of Ludgy Debaut, Ian Jones, David Kasanganay and Samson Strickland. Debaut, Kasanganay and Strickland are each first-time NABC Honors Court recipients, while Jones earned the honor for the second consecutive season.

To be considered for the NABC Honors Court, student-athletes must have reached junior or senior academic standing and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2. Honorees must have also matriculated at least one year at their current institution, be a member of an NCAA Division I, II or III, or NAIA Division I or II program whose head coaches is an NABC member.Â

The Pirates were one of four American Athletic Conference teams with at least one player on the team along with SMU, Tulane and Wichita State. A pair of Tulane student-athletes earned the yearly accolade while SMU and Wichita State had one each.
