ECU Earns United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

GREENVILLE, N.C. – For the seventh straight year, the East Carolina soccer team has been rewarded for its success in the classroom as the Pirates earned the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 academic year.

"Our ladies continue to do an amazing job each and every year in the classroom," said head coach Jason Hamilton. "Every semester since I have arrived they have achieved a program-best GPA. They are extremely dedicated in their academics and everyone around campus notices. We are very proud of the academic standards they have created for our program."

In order to earn the Team Academic Award, teams needed to post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Pirates easily cleared that bar, finishing with a combined GPA of 3.63.

East Carolina has a long history of academic success, having earned the Team Academic Award 20 times since first winning it in 1999.

The Pirates will have the weekend off after a 2-0 loss to No. 17 SMU on Thursday evening. East Carolina will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 30 at Cincinnati.
