GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina looks to get back on track in American Athletic Conference play when it completes the season series with Memphis Thursday night inside the FedExForum. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. and the contest will air on ESPN2.

The Pirates knocked off the Tigers 72-71 on a Brandon Suggs buzzer beater back on Jan. 15 in Greenville. Suggs and Vance Jackson finished the game with 17 points apiece while Jackson added seven rebounds and three assists. A trio of Pirates also notched double figures in the scoring column as Alanzo Frink, Tristen Newton and Tremont Robinson-White all posted 11-point efforts with Newton chipping in seven assists. Jalen Duren topped the Memphis side with 15 points and nine rebounds.

Facing then No. 10 Houston on the road last Saturday, ECU fell to the Cougars 79-36 at the Fertitta Center. Houston built a 30-point halftime lead on the way to winning its 36th-straight home game.Â

Tristen Newton paced ECU with 14 points and six rebounds. He also went 10 of 14 from the free throw line and has notched double-digit points in all but one game this campaign.

The Cougars hit on 30 of 63 (46.7 percent) from the floor and won the rebounding battle by a 49-33 margin. Houston turned 16 offensive boards into 19 second-chance points while limiting the Pirates to eight made baskets and 16-percent shooting.

East Carolina looks for its first true road win of the campaign, entering the contest 1-6 away from Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. The Pirates have had some close calls on the road, falling to Temple at the horn on a Damian Dunn three pointer while dropping five and nine-point decisions to Oklahoma and Davidson at the Myrtle Beach Invitational.

The Competition
Memphis (10-8, 4-4 AAC) broke a three-game losing streak in its most recent outing, rallying from as much as 15 points down in the second half to post an 83-81 victory at Tulsa and denying the Golden Hurricane (6-11, 0-6) its first AAC win. Tyler Harris scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Tigers.

The Memphis Series
Memphis leads the series with East Carolina by a 23-5 margin. The Pirates look for their second-ever road win over the Tigers, knocking off Memphis 84-83 back on Jan. 24, 2016.

Houston Leftovers
The Pirates fell to 6-18 all time against Houston and remained winless against the Cougars on the road in the series ... East Carolina dropped to 0-3 in true road games ... ECU used its sixth different starting lineup of the season.
