GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina attempts to earn a split of the season series with Cincinnati when the Pirates welcome the Bearcats to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum Sunday afternoon. Tipoff is slated for Noon and the contest will air on ESPNU.

In its last outing, ECU (11-8, 2-5 AAC) trailed Memphis by just four at halftime before the Tigers pulled away in the second period for a 71-54 American Athletic Conference victory inside the FedExForum.Â
Tristen Newton led all scorers with 19 points and pulled down four rebounds. Vance Jackson was one point shy of a double-double, posting nine points and 12 rebounds.

Memphis shot the ball at a 42.1-percent clip from the floor, knocking down 24 of 57 attempts, while East Carolina finished at 26.4 percent (19 of 72). The Tigers won the rebounding battle 53-42 and received 29 points off its bench.

ECU looks to continue its winning ways at home, carrying a 10-1 record inside Minges Coliseum into Sunday's affair. The Pirates fell for the first time in Greenville back on January 18 when it squandered a 19-point second-half lead in an overtime setback to UCF. East Carolina owns a pair of AAC victories at home over Tulane and Memphis.

The Competition
Cincinnati (14-6, 4-3 AAC) looks to bounce back from a 61-58 road loss at Temple last Tuesday. David DeJulius paced the Bearcats with 15 points as Cincinnati shot just 29.4 percent and was outrebounded 50-42. The Bearcats were up 12 at the half but were outscored 36-21 the rest of the way.

The Cincinnati Series
Cincinnati leads the series with East Carolina by a 16-2 count. The Pirates have dropped their last four against the Bearcats, including a 79-71 decision a couple of weeks ago at Fifth-Third Arena in Cincinnati.

Memphis Leftovers
The Pirates fell to 5-24 all time against Memphis ... Jackson recorded double figures in the rebounding column for the fourth time this season ... ECU failed to reach the 60-point mark for the second-straight contest after scoring at least 62 in every game before the last two ... Newton has scored in double figures in all but one contest this year.
