GREENVILLE, N.C. – With 10 matches remaining in the regular season, East Carolina embarks on an American Athletic Conference road swing to Tulane and No. 23 Houston. The Pirates will face the Green Wave Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. before battling the nationally-ranked Cougars Sunday at 1 p.m.

ECU (8-14, 3-7 AAC) dropped two at home last weekend, falling in five sets to Memphis before losing in three to SMU.

Angeles Alderete has put in a fine debut season, ranking fifth in the league in both kills per set (3.78) and points per set (4.24). Payton Evenstad is second in conference in aces per set (0.37) while Shaylynn Hall slots fourth in blocks per set (1.10) and Kenzie Beckham is fifth in digs per set (3.76). Collectively, the Pirates are second on the circuit in blocks per set (2.25) and third in aces per set (1.55).

About Tulane
The Green Wave (7-14, 2-8 AAC) put up a big conference win last time out, defeating Wichita State in five sets. Tulane also fell to Tulsa 3-0 two days prior. Kayla Kaiser currently ranks fourth in the American in aces per set (0.35) and sixth in hitting percentage (.323). Jillian Dits resides one spot ahead of ECU's Beckham in digs per set, checking in fourth at 4.06. As a team, the Green Wave are fourth in the league in both hitting percentage (.216) and digs per set (15.06).

The Tulane Series
East Carolina knocked off Tulane 3-1 back on Oct. 2 in Greenville to trim the Green Wave's lead in the all-time series to 22-7. The Pirates have lost in three of their last four trips to New Orleans, snagging a five-set victory Oct. 26, 2019. ECU is 2-11 against Tulane on the road.

Looking At Houston
The Cougars (19-2, 10-0 AAC) survived an upset bid versus Wichita State last weekend, downing the Shockers in five sets before sweeping Tulsa to remain in first place in the conference standings and extend their win streak to 11 matches. Houston ranks in the top three among league squads in five categories, placing second in opposing hitting percentage (.178), kills per set (13.88), assists per set (12.93) and aces per set (1.60). Individually, Abbie Jackson is first in aces per set (0.46), third in points per set (4.52) and fourth in kills per set (3.84).

The Houston Series
Houston swept East Carolina Sept. 30 to increase its series lead to 19-9. The Pirates are 3-9 against the Cougars on the road, last picking up a victory in five sets Nov. 17, 2017, to clinch a 20-win season.
