GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team will host the High Point Panthers in Minges Coliseum on Wednesday at 11 a.m. for Education Day. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

Last Time Out
The Pirates enter the game after a blowout win over the UNCW Seahawks. The Pirates forced 39 turnovers, scoring 46 points off turnovers and 42 points in the paint. Three players scored in double figures led by Alexsia Rose with a career-best 18 points as well as a career-high six steals. The Pirates also improved greatly shooting, with a 48 percent clip from the field and 75 percent from the foul line.

Scouting the Panthers
The Panthers enter the 2022-23 season after a 17-14 campaign a year ago which saw the team finish fifth in the Big South Conference before losing a heartbreaker to Gardner-Webb in the conference tournament. This year's group is off to a 1-2 start with a win over Concord and a loss to Davidson at home, plus a narrow, three-point defeat on the road at Elon.

High Point has two players currently averaging double figure scoring in Skyler Curran (15.7) and Nakyah Terrell (10.7). Curran also leads the way with 7.0 rebounds. The Panthers are a strong shooting team at .424 from the field and .714 from the foul line to go with a respectable .273 from deep.

Series History
East Carolina and High Point have met 14 times throughout their histories, dating back to 1972. The Pirates lead the all-time series 9-5, including a run of eight in a row between 1973 and 1980. The series took a pause after 1981 with only one 2007 tilt before last year's game at High Point. Including the 1981, 2007 and 2021 games, the Panthers have won three straight against ECU. This game will represent the first time with the teams meeting in back-to-back seasons since 1980-81.
