GREENVILLE, S.C. – The East Carolina men's basketball team is set to face South Carolina on Saturday afternoon in the first game of the Greenville Winter Invitational at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

The game is set to tip at 2 p.m. and can be viewed on ESPN+ or SEC Network+.
Following the Pirates' contest with the Gamecocks, Furman battles Stephen F. Austin at 4:30 p.m. and Clemson takes on Richmond in the nightcap at 7 p.m.

Last Time Out
Javon Small scored 21 points and recorded a game-high 10 assists as East Carolina used a strong second half on offense to defeat Coppin State 84-75 on Sunday afternoon at Williams Arena in Minges Coliseum. Freshman Ezra Ausar tied his season-high in points with 18 on 9-of-12 shooting and Brandon Johnson tallied his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Small became the first Pirate to record at least 20 points and 10 assists in a game since Isaac Fleming back in 2019.

Scouting the Gamecocks
The Gamecocks are coming off an 84-70 loss on the road to UAB on Thursday night. Freshman Gregory "GG" Jackson led South Carolina with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting. Jackson also leads the team in scoring (17.4 ppg) and on the boards (6.8 rpg).

Series History
South Carolina leads the series with East Carolina 6-5 with the last meeting between the two schools coming on Dec. 20, 2004, when the Gamecocks earned a 57-53 win. The Pirates last defeated the Gamecocks on Dec. 19, 1998, a 56-34 victory.

The Pirates are 6-21 all-time against teams from the Southeastern Conference. The last time ECU defeated an SEC opponent was during the 2002-03 season, a 65-58 win over Ole Miss.
