Â
The Pirates (14-13, 5-10 AAC) look to sweep the season series after defeating the Golden Hurricane 73-71 back on Feb. 8 at the Reynolds Center.
Â
Vance Jackson hit a heavily-contested three pointer with seconds remaining on the clock to seal the win in the teams' first meeting. Jackson ended up with 22 points on the strength of six three-point field goals while Tremont Robinson-White returned to the lineup after a short one-game absence to net 13 points and distribute six assists. Additionally, Brandon Suggs saw his first action since the UCF contest Jan. 18 and responded with six points, six assists and five steals.
Â
ECU recorded a 64-60 win over South Florida in Greenville Wednesday night to break a four-game losing streak inside the facility. Suggs and Newton paced the Pirates offensively with 15 points apiece while Robinson-White chipped in with 13 of his own. Ludgy Debaut continued his recent strong play on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds (four offensive).
Â
South Florida made 25 of 63 attempts from the field to shoot 39.7 percent while limiting ECU to 34.8-percent (16 of 46) efficiency. Despite the disparity in shots made, the Pirates drained a season-high 28 free throws off of 26 USF personal fouls. The Bulls outrebounded East Carolina 43-34 but turned the ball over 16 times which led to 17 Pirate points.
Â
The Competition
Tulsa (9-17, 3-12 AAC) has lost five of its last seven games, including a 75-61 setback at SMU Wednesday. Jeriah Horne paced the Golden Hurricane with 24 points, five rebounds, four assists and two blocks. However, he was the only Tulsa player to score in double figures as TU was limited to 36-percent shooting from the field and 3-point line. The Golden Hurricane are 1-9 on the road this season.
Â
The Tulsa Series
Tulsa leads the all-time series with East Carolina 23-4 and has won eight of the last nine meetings. The Pirates are 2-9 against the Golden Hurricane in Greenville.
Â
South Florida Leftovers

Joe Dooley became the fourth head coach in program history to notch 100 wins at the institution ... ECU recorded its 11th home victory of the season ... East Carolina held an opponent to 60 points or less for the fifth time ... ECU rose to 10-4 when leading at the half ... East Carolina's bench outscored the opposing reserves for the sixth-straight game ... The Pirates used the starting lineup of Newton, Reyes, Robinson-White, Jackson and Debaut for the second-straight outing ... Newton has scored in double figures in all but two games this season.
