BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – East Carolina closed out the 2022 American Athletic Conference Championships and season posting an even-par score of 288 during final round action Sunday afternoon. The three-day, 54-hole championship was being held at the Southern Hills Golf Club.

"Very proud of the guys for their effort this year," ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "We have a long ways to go but excited about some of the things we implemented this year and how they will pay off in the future. I would like to give a huge shoutout to our departing seniors for their hard work and dedication this year. They are fine representatives of our university and the men's golf program."

A.J. Beechler and Stephen Carroll both claimed a share of 22nd with tournament scores of 218 (2-over par). Beechler carded an even par 72 to go along with rounds of 75 and 71, while Carroll shot a one-under par 71 during final action with rounds of 72 and 75.

Nicolas Brown finished tied for 30th with a five-over par 221 (79-69-73) and Carter Busse (78-76-73) posted a one-over par for an 11-over 227 taking 38th. Tyler DeChellis posted rounds of 76 and 82 for a 36-hole score of 158 (14-over) before being lifted for fellow classmate Jack Massei as a third round substitute where Massei fired a 72 (even).

No. 43 SMU won the team title posting a 29-over (835) and finishing nine strokes ahead of No. 38 South Florida earning the league's automatic bid to the 2022 NCAA Regionals.
