
Pirates Set To Compete At Duke Invitational

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina takes part in its third weekend of outdoor competition when it makes the short trip to Durham for the Duke Invitational at Morris Williams Stadium.

"Both teams are excited to get back on the track after a very successful weekend at our home meet," Director of Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Curt Kraft said. The coaching staff feels that we got a lot accomplished at our home meet. This is the time of the year you want all the kids to start feeling really well about themselves and continue to improve each and every weekend."

East Carolina was very successful as host of the Bill Carson Invitational last weekend. The Pirates set a meet record for women's team points, accruing 309 to outpace UNCW who finished second with 102 points. The men finished second as a team behind Mount Olive. ECU also claimed 24 combined event titles over the two days.

The men's 4x1500 relay squad of Chase Osborne, Jack Dingman, Austin Mathews and Ethan Corrigan set a new school record, crossing the finish line in 16:19.49.

"We will see some great competition this weekend from ACC schools," Kraft added. "These next three meets will all be against ACC and SEC competition. This is the type of competition we need to prepare for to be successful at the American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships."
