GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball sets back out on the road for a matchup with the SMU Mustangs on Saturday in Dallas, Texas. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. (EST).

Last Time Out
The Pirates continued their run of strong play with a 21-point shellacking of Temple on Wednesday. The Pirates led for nearly 37 minutes and used a 17-0 run to start the second half to truly blow the game open. Danae McNeal topped her career-high yet again with 28 points while five other Pirates scored seven-or-more as the team won going away, leading by as many as 29 points.

Scouting the Mustangs
SMU has, for the most part, held serve this season. Their three non-conference losses came against Power Five teams, all on the road, while their two conferences losses also came away from home at Houston and Memphis. Both of those games were rough showings, however, including a 80-51 beatdown by the Memphis Tigers. But nonetheless, the SMU Mustangs remain unbeaten at home at 8-0 and will be a tough out for the Pirates.

SMU is led by Jasmine Smith with a tough 14.0 points per game and a team-leading 48 assists, while Chantae Embry is contributing a line of 11.8 points and 6.3 boards per contest. The Mustangs squad is quite strong defensively as well, allowing only 57.4 points and adding 4.4 blocks per game.

Series History
The series between the Pirates and Mustangs has been a good one through the years with ECU holding a narrow 15-12 advantage. Still, SMU leads 4-1 in the Kim McNeill era with the most recent game coming in Greenville last season, a 58-46 loss for the Pirates.
