
Pirates Gear Up For UNCG Invite

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's tennis team competes in its penultimate fall event this weekend (Oct. 13-14), heading over to the Piedmont Triad for the UNCG Invite.

Participating Institutions: UNCG, Longwood, Appalachian State, East Carolina, North Carolina A&T, Western Carolina and Hampton
Â
Friday's matches will begin at 1 p.m. with singles play at the UNCG Tennis Courts. The event continues Saturday with doubles play at the Piedmont Indoor Tennis Courts before wrapping up Sunday back at the UNCG Tennis Courts with another round of singles bouts.

The Pirates traveled to Lynchburg, Va., last weekend for the Liberty Hidden Duals, picking up 17 total victories in singles/doubles action.

Kim Auerswald and Anne Lou Champion rolled through the doubles portion of the tournament, defeating Campbell's Lilianna Chitambar and Mialy Ranaivo by a 6-2 margin before knocking off a pair of teams from Delaware in Slade Coetzee/Julieta Honrubia 6-2 and Coetzee/Mariya Hrynashka 7-6 (8-6).

In singles play, junior Martina Muzzolon and freshman Noelle Talarek both went 2-1 while eight of the nine Pirates to take the court won at least one match.
