Last Time Out
The Pirates ran the full gamut of emotions in a 2-2 draw with Tulsa last time out. After taking a 1-0 lead in the second half, the home side saw the lead fade away into a 2-1 deficit in under five minutes. It took a miracle strike from Annabelle Abbott with just seven seconds remaining in the contest to salvage what may prove to be a critical point in conference play.

Scouting the Mustangs
SMU has shown their quality again this season with a 7-4-1 record, including a 3-2-1 start to league play which kicked off with a 6-3 thumping of Rice on Sept. 14. The Mustangs dropped a tight contest with South Florida last time out in Tampa and will be looking to rebound as they return home on Thursday. Nyah Rose leads SMU with eight goals and 18 total points on the season while taking only 24 shots for a wicked .333 shot percentage.
Series History
The Pirates and Mustangs have met 20 times since the series started back in 2005 with SMU holding a tight 10-7-3 edge overall. It was victory for the Pirates over then No. 19 SMU last season though as Isabella Gutiérrez scored a first half tally and Annabelle Abbott scored an 86th minute winner from a fabulous backheel flick from Sydney Schnell after a cross by Lindsey Aiken.
Tournament Scenarios
The Pirates can clinch a spot in the American Athletic Conference Tournament with a win and a UAB or Tulsa loss. The Pirates are still in the hunt in the East Division but will need hunt as South Florida now controls their own destiny.
