GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina puts the 2023 regular season to rest Wednesday, Nov. 22, taking on American Athletic Conference newcomer UTSA at the Convocation Center. First serve is set for 1 p.m. and the match will stream live via ESPN+.

With a victory over the Roadrunners, the Pirates (19-10, 10-8 AAC) will clinch their first 20-win season since 2017 and just the fifth in program history.

ECU swept Charlotte last Friday at home to snap a five-match losing streak before the 49ers rallied from a 2-1 deficit to snatch a five-set win in Saturday's rematch.

As the regular season winds down to its conclusion, the Pirates are tied with UTSA and Charlotte for the top spot on the league statistical list in blocks per set (2.45). East Carolina also ranks second in opponent hitting percentage (.162) and third in both hitting percentage (.234) and aces per set (1.57). Sophomore middle blocker Carlia Northcross slots second in blocks per set (1.17) while senior setter Julianna Askew is third in aces per set (0.41).

Scouting UTSA
UTSA enters the regular season finale having lost three-straight matches - a pair of West Division setbacks to Wichita State and a four-set loss at UAB. The Roadrunners are tops in the league in blocks per set (2.45) and service aces per set (1.80) and rank third in points per set (16.63). Aliah Giroux checks in at second in the conference in digs per set (4.40) while Caroline Krueger is fifth in aces per set and Mekaila Aupiu slots sixth in assists per set (7.74). UTSA is 8-6 at home this campaign with wins over Texas Southern, Missouri State, Texas A&M-Commerce, Lamar, Tulane (twice) and Tulsa (twice) as well as losses to Delaware, Tarleton State, SMU (twice), South Florida and Temple.

The series between East Carolina and UTSA is comprised of just one meeting - a four-set Roadrunner victory Nov. 15, 2013 in San Antonio when both clubs were members of Conference USA.
