FAIRFAX, Va. – The East Carolina men's basketball team is set for its first road trip of the season on Saturday when the Pirates take on George Mason inside EagleBank Arena. The game is set to tip at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.

ECU has four players currently averaging double figures in scoring, led by RJ Felton (20.3 ppg) and Brandon Johnson (15.3 ppg). The team is seeking to win its first road opener since the 2020-21 season, a 66-57 win at Charlotte.

Last Time Out
The Pirates are coming off a thrilling end to the TowneBank Holiday Classic as ECU defeated Kennesaw State 85-84 on a half-court heave from Bobby Pettiford Jr. at the buzzer to cap off the three-day tournament at Minges Coliseum. Pettiford Jr. scored a career-high 18 points on the night and Jaden Walker and RJ Felton each recorded double-doubles to help lead the Pirates to the win.

Scouting the Patriots
George Mason is coming off a tight 73-71 win over South Dakota State in the Jacksonville Classic on Nov. 20 as Keyshawn Hall hit the game-winner with three seconds to go. Hall also led the team with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Hall averages 17.8 points per game and Amari Kelly and Darius Maddox provide supplemental scoring with 13.8 and 11.0 points per contest respectively.

Series History
The Pirates have an extensive history with the Patriots dating back to 1981 but George Mason holds a 33-15 advantage in the all-time series. The programs last met on Nov. 22, 2008 in Greenville where the Patriots eked out a 77-71 win. ECU has not won in Fairfax since 1997 when the Pirates defeated the Patriots 87-81.

ECU is 8-5 in games on Nov. 25 since the 1960-61 season with last game on this date coming during the 2016-17 season, a 66-70 loss to Mercer in the Savannah Invitational.
