
ECU Finishes Sixth At Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The East Carolina men's golf team posted a tournament-best final round score of 284 (4-under) to finish in sixth place at the Wexford Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole event was being held at the par-72, 6,913-yard Wexford Plantation Golf Course.

ECU, who entered Tuesday tied for 13th overall, used a pair of 3-under par 69's from freshman Lucas Augustsson and graduate student Nicolas Brown moving seven spots for its fourth top-6 finish of the season. Augustsson claimed a share of eighth place in the event after posting a score of 219 (3-over/74-76-69), while Brown finished tied for 14th after his 4-over par 220 (72-79-69).

"It was nice to see us finally put together a round just like we see in practice," ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "We had a horrible start on the 36-hole day but had a really good final round to have a respectable finish."

Sophomore Tyler DeChellis finished tied for 37th after posting a 13-over par 229 (74-75-80) and freshman Philip Linberg Bondestad claimed a share of 44th following his rounds of 79, 78, 73 for a score of 230 (14-over). Rounding out the Pirates on the week was graduate student Stuart Fuller who posted a score of 237 (21-over/83-81-73) taking a share of 73rd.

South Carolina-Aiken, who is ranked No. 37 nationally, won the team event with a score of 879 (15-over), followed by Dayton (884/20-over), Francis Marion (886/22-over), Richmond (886/22-over) and Samford (887/27-over).

ECU returns to action on Sunday, March 5 when it heads to Auburn, Ala. to participate in the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner. The two-day event will be held at RT/GT Grand National Lake.
