GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team will wrap up their home schedule as they host the Houston Cougars in Minges Coliseum at 6 p.m. Wednesday. Attendance will be free to all fans.

Last Time Out
The Pirates came back from the dead to defeat UCF last time out, closing the game on a 15-0 run over the final four minutes, including 9-0 over the final minute of the contest. Danae McNeal and Micah Dennis made clutch free throws late while Synia Johnson added lockdown defensive with five steals and a key bucket in the final minute.

Scouting Houston
The Cougars bring their own brand of stout defense, putting up 13.6 steals per game, one of just two teams in the country averaging more than the Pirates. Houston had a tough run in non-conference play but have turned it on in AAC play with their 8-4 record in league play including an upset over South Florida, the Bulls lone AAC loss.

Houston is led by one of the elite players in the American Athletic Conference in Laila Blair with 15.0 points per game while getting 12.2 points from Tiara Young and 7.8 rebounds from Tatyana Hill.

Series History
The Cougars control the all-time series with a 19-9 margin, including the last five in the series. The last ECU win came back in Feb. 2020 when the Pirates defeated Houston 53-50 in Minges Coliseum.
