GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team travels back to Florida for a battle with the UCF Knights on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Orlando, Fla.
Last Time Out
The Pirates showed their heart to get back to within three against No. 25 South Florida in the third quarter before the Bulls showed their class to end the game on a 37-16 run including a very quick 7-0 run capped by a Carla Brito four-point play. Amiya Joyner was the Pirates' statistical leader with her seventh double-double of the year.
Scouting South Florida
The Knights entered conference play with a strong 9-3 record but have struggled mightily against AAC foes with their lone win coming at home against Wichita State. In their last game, UCF was defeated 63-56 by Temple in Philadelphia.
The team spreads the scoring load with five players averaging over eight points per contest while Destiny Thomas leads the way with her 11.4 to go with a team-leading 10.6 rebounds per game and 26 blocks.
Series History
The Pirates narrowly lead the all-time series 14-12 going back to 2006; however, UCF has taken the last eight meetings with the last ECU win coming back in 2016. Jada Payne led the Pirates that day with 27 points and 14 rebounds while hitting 10-11 from the foul line.
