Pirates Travel to Meets at Virginia and South Carolina
April 20, 2023 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field team will send athletes to two meets on the weekend: The Virginia Challenge on Friday and Saturday as well as South Carolina's USC Open on Saturday.
Â
"This is our last opportunity to improve on our marks before the Outdoor Championships," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "Both teams are very excited to compete in Charlottesville and Columbia this weekend. We will be competing against some great competition at both sites. The competition that we will be seeing this weekend will prepare us for our AAC outdoor Championships. We have had some great performances up to this point in the season, and there is no reason to believe that the trend won't continue through this weekend."
The Pirates enter the meet on the heels of a weekend in which they claimed victory in seven events while Royal Burris and Sydni McMillan dashed into the record books in the 100m and 100m hurdles, respectively. For his efforts, Burris earned AAC Track Athlete of the Week honors.
