GREENVILLE, N.C. – No. 12 East Carolina begins the second half of its American Athletic Conference schedule this weekend, welcoming Tulane to Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium for a three-game series.

Each contest, beginning with Friday's opener at 6 p.m., will be streamed and feature a full broadcast and graphics on ESPN+ with Patrick Johnson, Jay Sonnhalter and Mike Mullis on the call throughout the three days. As always, Scooter Rogers and Dr. Gary Overton will handle the radio duties on 94.3 The Game.

The Pirates (29-12, 7-5 AAC) are currently third in the AAC standings after falling victim to a sweep at Wichita State last weekend. Despite the setback, ECU is just one game behind league leaders Houston and Wichita State with 12 conference games remaining in the regular season. The Green Wave (12-29, 5-7 AAC) dropped two of three at Cincinnati in its most recent American Conference series.

East Carolina put the wraps on its home-and-home season series with NC State Tuesday in Raleigh, falling to the Wolfpack 5-4 in a thriller at Doak Field. Jacob Starling matched his single-game career high of three hits in the contest while the Pirate bullpen held NC State without a base knock after the fourth inning.

Justin Wilcoxen leads the ECU offensive efforts with a squad-best .339 batting average to pace three Pirate hitters that are at .306 or better. Jacob Jenkins-Cowart also checks in with a .311 mark to go along with 11 doubles, eight home runs and 28 RBI. Collectively, East Carolina is hitting .292 with 81 doubles, eight triples, 49 home runs, 190 walks drawn and 52 stolen bases.

The Pirate pitching staff owns a 3.89 earned run average with 413 strikeouts and 128 walks in 358.1 innings. ECU ranks sixth in the nation in WHIP (1.25), sixth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.23), 12th in walks allowed per nine innings (3.21) and 15th in earned run average. Scheduled Saturday starter Josh Grosz is sixth in the country in hits allowed per nine innings (5.27).

Tulane ranks seventh in the league in batting average (.245) and ERA (6.65) and is 5-14 away from home this season.

The Tulane Series
The all-time series between East Carolina and Tulane enumerates 70 games of which each team has won 35. The Pirates have had the better of things lately though, emerging victorious in 12 of the last 16 meetings. ECU dropped two of three in New Orleans during the 2022 regular season but bounced back to eliminate the Green Wave from the conference tournament with an 8-5 win in Clearwater.
