Pirates Set to Compete at Duke Invitational
April 05, 2023 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field team will travel to Durham for a weekend of competition at the Duke Invitational. Competition begins Thursday and runs through Saturday at Duke's Morris Williams Stadium.
Â
The Pirates enter the meet after a successful home stand at the Bill Carson Invitational where the men and women both took comfortable team wins. In addition to the team titles, the Pieates won 24 of 40 contested events on the weekend.
Â
"We are really excited to compete at the Duke Invite this weekend," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "I feel like after the performances we had last weekend at our home track meet, the kids have created a lot of energy and momentum going into this weekend. We will see a lot of great competition from ACC schools this weekend. The goal of both teams is to continue to get better each and every weekend, and hopefully we peak at the end of the season. everyone's individual success, leads to team success."
The team will be facing some stiff competition as they travel to Duke and the season moves into April. The Pirates will look to build off of their success to this point on the year in what should be a stellar environment.
