Pirates Set to Compete at NCAA East Prelim
May 23, 2023 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Nine athletes from the East Carolina track & field team are set to compete at the NCAA East Preliminary meet in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 24-27. The meet will be available for streaming on ESPN+ with live results on flashresults.com.
Â
"We are very excited for all nine student-athletes to have had the privilege of moving on to this very prestigious meet," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "Please understand, you don't get to this meet by mistake. This meet exemplifies all the hard work and dedication by these athletes over the past nine months. The benefits for all nine athletes is that the entire group has lots of experience in big meet settings. One of the things that I have explained to this group is not to be satisfied for getting here, the goal has to be to move on to Austin, Texas. It's really nice to see hard work and dedication be rewarded. I know one thing: everyone will be ready to compete at a very high level."
Â
Royal Burris will kick things off for the Pirates as the only athlete competing Wednesday. Burris is set for the first round of the 100-meter dash at 7 p.m. and the 200m at 8:45 p.m.
