
ECU Opens Season At River Run Collegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina men's golf is set to open the 2023-24 season Monday, Sept. 11 when it competes in the River Run Collegiate at the River Run Country Club. Play will begin with 36 holes of continuous play Monday followed by a sing round Tuesday. Pirate fans can follow all the action online by clicking here.

Joining host Davison and the Pirates in the 14-team field are Appalachian State, Delaware, Eastern Michigan, Gardner-Webb, George Mason, High Point, Loyola University (Chicago), Old Dominion, Queens University, Radford, William & Mary and Winthrop.

Kevin Williams, who is in the third year of his second stint with the Pirates, served as the Pirates' head coach from 1995-2005 before exclusively taking over the head coaching duties of the ECU women's program, which he started from scratch in 2000, the following year. He returned in June of 2021 guiding the Pirates to three top six placement which included third place finish at the ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley. Last year, the Pirates captured three team tournament titles winning the Ironwood Collegiate Classic, ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley and Cutter Creek Intercollegiate. Mike Cato and Kathryn Carson, who were named assistant coaches in July of 2023, will assist Williams this season.

The Pirates will use a roster consisted of four underclassmen and one upperclassman. Sophomore Lucas Augustsson (No. 1), junior Carter Busse (No. 2), freshman Nathan O'Neal (No. 3), sophomore Philip Linberg Bondestad (No. 4) and freshman Drew O'Neal (No. 5) through multiple rounds of qualifying. Junior Tyler DeChellis will compete for ECU as an individual.
