
East Carolina Resumes Fall Slate At Elon

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's tennis team competes in its second tournament of the fall campaign this weekend, heading to the Piedmont Triad for the Elon Fall Invitational. The event is scheduled to run over three days from Sept. 22-24.

Participating Institutions: Campbell, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Elon, Emory, James Madison, Norfolk State, North Carolina A&T, N.C. Central, UNC Greensboro and Virginia Tech

The Pirates faced stiff competition at the Tribe Invitational last weekend at William & Mary, but picked up eight wins among a field that included the host Tribe, Liberty, Penn, Richmond, Towson and Virginia Tech.

Martina Muzzolon and Kexuan Zhou fought back from a first round doubles loss in the Griffin Draw, knocking off Richmond's Lara Bakhaya and Leonor Oliveira 6-4 to claim the consolation crown. Ines Bachir defeated Andy Campodonico from Richmond by a 4-6, 7-5 (10-2) margin to win the Green Draw consolation title and Anne Lou Champion downed teammate Nicole Talarek 7-6 (5), 5-7 (10-6) to emerge victorious in the Silver Draw consolation bracket.
