Birmingham, Ala. – The East Carolina men's basketball team is set to hit the road for its next two games beginning on Saturday when the Pirates visit UAB at Bartow Arena.

The game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. tip and will be streamed via ESPN+ with Curt Bloom (play-by-play) and Mo Finley (analyst) on the call. Saturday's game can also be heard on the ECU Sports Network 107.9 FM or 9.43 The Game with Daron Vaught (play-by-play) and Michael Perry handling broadcasting duties.

RJ Felton leads East Carolina with 16.4 points per game (7th in AAC). Ezra Ausar and Brandon Johnson round out the Pirates' top scorers with 14 points per game. Johnson leads the team on the glass with 8.9 rebounds per contest which ranks as third-best in the league. Bobby Pettiford Jr. leads the Pirates with 3.8 assists per game and leads the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio at 3.6 (10th in NCAA).

Last Time Out
RJ Felton scored 16 points including a go-ahead shot with three seconds remaining, but North Texas answered with a last-second layup from Robert Allen on a full court heave to defeat East Carolina 60-59 on Wednesday evening inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Cam Hayes tied his season-high with 12 points and Brandon Johnson added 11 points and eight rebounds for the Pirates (9-9, 2-3 AAC).

Scouting the Blazers
UAB enters Saturday's game coming off a dominant, 83-69 win at home against Tulane behind a career-high 28 points from Alejandro Vasquez. The Blazers controlled the interior, outscoring the Green Wave 48-28 in the paint and outrebounding them 49-29. UAB features a balanced offensive attack as five players are scoring in double figures led by Eric Gaines' 12.1 points per game. The Blazers feature one of the highest scoring offenses that the Pirates have seen thus far in conference play, averaging 77.4 points per game. Conversely, the Blazers are at the bottom of the league in scoring defense allowing 75.8 points per game. UAB is the top team in the league in offensive rebounds per game at 13.8 (20th in NCAA).

Series History
UAB leads the all-time series with East Carolina 12-6 but the Pirates took the last meeting between the two programs, 74-67, in Birmingham on Feb. 1, 2014. The Pirates have won five of the last six meetings after UAB won 11 of the first 12 meetings. ECU is 4-6 in Birmingham and have won their last three games at UAB.

On This Date
ECU is 8-10 in games played on Jan. 20 since the 1960-61 season with the last game on this date coming during the 2017-18 season, a 60-86 loss on the road to Cincinnati.
