Bill Clark Homes Announces $1 Million Match Initiative for Baseball Building Expansion
October 14, 2024 | Baseball, General
GREENVILLE, NC. – In a collaborative effort with the Pirate Club, Bill Clark Homes has announced a $1 Million Match challenge to complete funding for the Dick and Sarah Bennett Baseball Building. The $1 million matching gift challenge begins Monday, October 14, and will run through Friday, November 1.
Â
Bill Clark Homes, led by co-owners Lance and Heath Clark, previously made the largest investment in Pirate Club's 63-year history. Their contribution finalized funding for the Isley Indoor Performance Center and spearheaded efforts to close out the baseball project.
Â
"We are so grateful for the continued generosity of Bill Clark Homes and the impact they have on our student-athletes," Executive Associate AD for Revenue Generation/Pirate Club Executive Director Ryan Robinson said. "With this expansion, Clark-LeClair Stadium will not only offer an incredible home-field advantage but also a state-of-the-art facility for our successful baseball program."
Â
"This amazing act of generosity from Lance and Heath Clark of Bill Clark Homes is helping us cross the finish line on a project that will have a lasting impact on our program," said Pirates head coach Cliff Godwin, who personally invested $100,000 into the project. "With our fan base and Pirate Club support behind us, I look forward to breaking ground soon."
Â
Â
The $1 million matching gift will be directed toward the expansion of the baseball building along the left field line at Clark-LeClair Stadium. The project will give the Pirates one of the top Division I athletic facilities in the country and further enhance the fan experience, recruiting, training, and student-athlete development.
Â
"We believe in our phenomenal baseball program led by Cliff Godwin," said Lance Clark. "We are proud to help ECU Athletics push this project to completion. With the strength of our fan base, we can ensure ECU continues to have one of the best facilities in the country. As a member of the Pirate Club Executive Committee, I know how vital it is to stay competitive in today's athletics landscape, and we'll continue focusing on NIL opportunities for Pirate student-athletes."
Â
"It is remarkable to see the progress of our baseball program over the years and the improvement in facilities from the time when I was a Pirate," said Heath Clark. "We have been so blessed and feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to make this transformational project come to fruition."
Â
Over the next two weeks, Bill Clark Homes will match all qualifying gifts and pledges up to $1 million to support the baseball project. The company hopes this effort will encourage new contributions and motivate existing supporters to extend their current pledges.
Â
Donors who contribute $100 or more will receive a commemorative gift. Gifts will be mailed after the match period concludes to all who have fulfilled their pledge. As part of the Pirates Unite Campaign, participants will also receive double priority points for their investment.
