Pirates Conclude Cross Country Season at NCAA Southeast Regional

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Four members of the East Carolina cross country team competed at the NCAA Southeast Regional hosted by Winthrop University on Friday morning. Erin Pope and Alex Sawyer led the way with top-100 finishes.

The women kicked things off with their 6K race in which Erin Pope led the charge with an 84th-place finish followed by Kaylee McCullough in 121st in 21:19.8 and 22:54.8 respectively. Pope made a strong push throughout the race moving from 141 at 1.6K to 104 at 3K up into the top 100 by the finish.

The men finished the day with a 10K race in which Sawyer paced the duo with a 91st-place finish in 32:16.5. J Henry Lyon took 154th on the day in 33:23.1.
