GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team is set to host their annual Education Day on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. as they host the Howard Bison in Minges Coliseum. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ and for listening on 94.3 The Game.

Last Time Out
The Pirates suffered a 95-44 loss at No. 1 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon in Columbia, S.C. Amiya Joyner was a terrific bright spot for the Pirates with 25 points and 10 rebounds in the game for her second double-double of the year. South Carolina put five players in double figures led by Chloe Kitts with 14 points on the day.

Scouting Howard
The Bison enter the game with a 3-1 record with a 39-35 win over Mount St. Mary's in their last contest. The team is led by Destiny Howell with 16.0 points per game on the season while Kaiya Creek leads the way with 6.0 rebounds to go with her 8.3 points per game. As a group, the Bison are shooting a solid 38 percent from the field but just over 20 percent from three and 60 percent from the foul line.

Series History
The Pirates and Bison have met seven times since their first contest in 1984 with a 5-2 margin for ECU all time. Howard did take the most recent matchup in Dec. 2019 by a 67-51 scoreline. Sarah Edmonds led all scorers with 17 points for the Bison while Necole Hope led ECU with 13.

Big Player, Big Stage
Against No. 1 South Carolina, Amiya Joyner went for 25 points and 10 rebounds. Just two points off of her career high of 27, the game was the junior's sixth career 20+ point game and her 28th career double-double (and her second of the young season).

Family Reunion
The game against Howard holds a special meaning to a couple of members of the East Carolina coaching staff as Tamoria Holmes ('13) and Jeffrey Williams ('87) are both HU alums.
