
ECU Competes At South Carolina And Wolfpack GAC Invites

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's swimming and diving teams competed in separate events over this past weekend at the South Carolina Invite (swimming) and the Wolfpack GAC Invite (diving).

The Pirates, who placed fifth out of 10 teams at The South Carolina invite scoring 445 points, registered 70 in-season best performances, 24 lifetime best performances and seven ECU all-time Top 10 finishes. IN all, they had 10 A finalists, 14 B finalists, 14 C finalists and 17 D finalists in the pool.

ECU Top 10 Performances
Alayna Carlson: 100 backstroke (fifth/55.38) and 200 backstroke (fourth/1:59.64)
Carlie Clements: 100 backstroke (fourth/55:23)
Mikayla Durkin: 50 freestyle (tied ninth/23.33)
Sara Kalawska: 100 butterfly (third/54:80) and 200 butterfly (seventh/2:00.37)
Abbey Pickel: 400 IM (seventh/4:23.15)

At the Wolfpack GAC Invite, the Pirates had four A finalist and five B finalist in the event. Frida Zuniga Guzman set a new school record in the platform dive with a score of 284.25 claiming top honors in the event. She finished second in the 3-meter dive posting a score of 322.10 for a second-place finish and placed third in the 1-meter dive with a score of 289.50.

Olivia Templeton scored a 269.75 in the 1-meter dive finishing fifth in the event while also posting the fifth best score in program history on the springboard.

The ECU swimmers return to action Dec. 4-7 participating in the U.S. Open in Greensboro, N.C.
