GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina continues its three-game holiday homestand on Tuesday night when the Pirates welcome FIU to Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum for the first time in the series history between the two programs.
The game is set for a 7 p.m. start time and will be streamed via ESPN+ with Patrick Johnson (play-by-play) and Si Seymour (analyst) on the call. Pirate fans can also tune in to 107.9 WNCT FM, 94.3 The Game or use the IBX app to hear Daron Vaught call the action.
Tuesday's game is the first of four Holiday Hoops games where fans can get $8 tickets for seating in the lower-level general admission bleachers and behind-the-basket seating of the upper level.
The Pirates are led in scoring by All-Conference senior guard RJ Felton's 17.8 points per game, which is top five in the conference and the Aiken native adds a team-high 6.8 rebounds per game. C.J. Walker (17.1 ppg, 6.5 rpg), Jordan Riley (13.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg) and Cam Hayes (10.4 ppg, 3.5 apg) round out the Pirates' double-figure scorers.
Last Time Out
C.J. Walker scored 18 points and Cam Hayes added 17 points but East Carolina could not overcome a 14-point first half deficit as the Pirates came up short at home to North Alabama, 74-67, on Wednesday evening inside Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum. Yann Farell added 10 points for the Pirates (7-4) who dropped their third straight game and shot under 30 percent from behind the arc for the third straight game as well.
Scouting the Panthers
FIU enters Tuesday night's game on a two-game winning streak as the Panthers defeated Stetson, 81-72, on Saturday evening for their first road win of the season. Jayden Brewer led FIU with 20 points on 7-of-12 shooting in the win as the Panthers used a 47-28 halftime lead to earn the win. Brewer leads FIU in scoring and rebounding with 14.9 points and 6.0 rebounds per game and Vianney Salatchoum adds 10.0 points per contest.
Series History
Tuesday will be only the second all-time meeting between the Pirates and Panthers as FIU took the first meeting between the two programs, 68-64, back on Jan. 18, 2014 when both schools were members of Conference USA.
On This Date
The Pirates are 6-9 in games played on Dec. 17 with the last game on this date coming during the 2022-23 season when the Pirates defeated South Carolina 64-56 in a neutral-site contest. The last home game played on this date was in 2019-20 when ECU defeated UMES, 71-57.
