GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina women's basketball team is set to kick of the calendar year against the Temple Owls at 4 p.m. on Wednesday in Philadelphia. The game will be available for streaming on ESPN+ as the Pirates look to move to 1-1 in American Athletic Conference Play.

Last Time Out
Despite scoring a season-high 84 points, the Pirates dropped a tough contest at Tulsa in their conference opener on Sunday. Playing without two usual starters, the team gave it a run with four players scoring in double figures, led by Jayla Hearp's 21. However, it was 34 turnovers which doomed the team as they gave the ball away far too many times to hope to win. For Tulsa, Delanie Crawford was sensational with her 36 points, proving a near-impossible matchup for the Pirates.

Scouting Temple
The Owls enter the game with a 7-5 record after absolutely handling UAB, 97-74, on Sunday afternoon. Tiarra East put up 21 and Jaleesa Molina had a 17-point double-double in the win. For the year, it's been East leading the charge with 16.4 points per game while Molina has been getting it done on the glass with 7.6 rebounds per game to go with her 8.6 points per.

Series History
The Pirates and Owls have met 16 times dating back to 2015 with a 12-4 edge for Temple overall. After a season sweep for ECU in 2023, Temple got revenge last year with an 81-66 win in Minges Coliseum. Danae McNeal posted 21 points in the loss but it was not enough to counteract Tiarra East's 28 points and 13 rebounds as Temple put five players in double-figures scoring and had three players earn double-doubles.
