
Jenkins-Cowart Tabbed AAC Player Of The Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina junior outfielder Jacob Jenkins-Cowart has been named the first American Athletic Conference Player of the Week according to an announcement by the league Monday afternoon. The weekly accolade is the first in his career and the ninth for the program since the start of the 2023 campaign.

Jenkins-Cowart got off to a sizzling start at the plate on Opening Weekend, batting .500 (6-for-12) with six runs scored, five RBI, three doubles, two home runs, a pair of stolen bases and a 1.821 OPS as the Pirates outscored 2023 NCAA Conway Regional participant Rider 30-2 in a three-game sweep.

ECU's right fielder kickstarted the series Friday with a two-hit performance that included a double, home run and stolen base in the 16-2 win over the Broncs. Jenkins-Cowart also registered three runs scored and four RBI in the contest. He then went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a double, a home run and a stolen base in Sunday's finale.

Jenkins-Cowart and the Pirates are back in action Tuesday evening when they make the short trip over to Buies Creek for an appointment with Campbell. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. at Jim Perry Stadium and the game will stream live via FloBaseball.
