
ECU Finishes Third At Wexford Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – East Carolina shot a 9-over par 297 during final round action finishing third at the Wexford Intercollegiate. The three-day, 54-hole event was being played at the Wexford Plantation – Arnold Palmer Course (par-72; 6,884 yards).
A trio of Pirates in sophomores Philip Linberg Bondestad and Lucas Augustsson as well as graduate student Ethan Hall registered Top 20 finishes pacing ECU during the event. Bondestad claimed a share of fifth place with a 2-over par 218 following rounds of 73, 72 and 73 finishing two shots behind the leaders and registering his second Top 10 placement of the year.
Augustsson finished tied for 13th, his fourth top 15 placement of the year, after posting a 4-over pas 220 with rounds of 76, 71 and 73. Hall claimed a share of 17th carding rounds of 75, 71 and 75 for a 5-over par 221.
"I am real proud of the way the guys battled a very tough golf course in some hard conditions," ECU Director of Golf/Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "This course will prepare us well for the test we will face at Palmetto GC in two weeks!"
ECU junior Carter Busse shot a 12-over 228 (76-76-76) finishing tied for 39th while fellow classmate Tyler DeChellis shot a 19-over 235 (74-80-81) for a share of 69th.
Georgia State won the team title with a 9-over par 873 (287-295-291) finishing four shots ahead of South Carolina-Aiken (288-287-302=877) and 12 ahead of ECU (298-290-297=885).
ECU returns to action on Monday, March 4 when it participates in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Invitational in Aiken, S.C.
