
ECU Wraps Up Day Three Of AAC Championships

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina sits in fourth place with one day to ga in the 2024 American Athletic Conference Championships with 316 points.

Sophomore Emilee Hamblin finished third in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:48.40 earning 16 points in the A-Final and posting the fourth-best time in program history. Fellow classmate Heidi Bruining placed ninth overall (first B-Finals) with a time of 1:48.74 (fifth all-time at ECU) in the 200 free collecting nine points.

Junior Alayna Carlson took 12th overall in 100 backstroke (fourth in B-Final) with a time of 55.48 earning five points, which was also the seventh-best time in program history. Meghan Armstrong, a fellow classmate, took 13th overall and second in the B-Final with a time of 55.71 with the eighth-best time at ECU.

Mikayla Durkin, a freshman, posted a time of 23.35 in the 50 free in the prelims which was the 10th top time in ECU history. Junior Ava Iannetta recorded a time of 56.02 in the 200 fly trials which is also the 10th best time at ECU.

The 400-yard medley relay team finished fourth after a time of 3.40.99, which established a new school record. The squad of Brynna Wolfe, Kaylee Hamblin, Sara Kalawska and Bruining tallied 30 points.

Sophomore Frida Zuniga Guzman also posted a school record in the platform dive with a score of 256.35 for 17 points.

The meet continues Saturday, February 24, with swimming prelims at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. PT, diving prelims at 1:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. CT and finals at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT.
