
East Carolina Coasts To 6-1 Win Over N.C. Central

DURHAM, N.C. – Doubles play set the tone Saturday afternoon as East Carolina picked up its first win of the season via a 6-1 decision over host N.C. Central at the Younge Tennis Courts.

Kim Auerswald and Anne Lou Champion got things going in doubles with a dominant 6-1 victory on court three before Martina Muzzolon and Kexuan Zhou polished off a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position to give ECU its third doubles point in four tries this campaign.

The Pirates also enjoyed their finest singles effort of the young season, quickly putting the Eagles away with triumphs on courts three, two and five. Auerswald improved to 3-1 for the year with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Jade Houston while Muzzolon, Alisha Hussain and Champion all secured straight-set victories to aid East Carolina's efforts.

The Pirates will attempt to make it two in a row as they head to Charlotte for a Sunday afternoon meeting with Queens University. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside the Howard Levine Tennis Center. Â
