Pirates Close Regular Season at Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational
February 08, 2024 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field program will compete in one more regular season indoor meet on Friday and Saturday at Liberty's Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational as the team makes its final preparations for the 2024 AAC Indoor Championships.
Portions of the meet will be available for streaming on ESPN+Â with live coverage scheduled for Friday from 5:30-9 p.m. and Saturday from Noon-4 p.m.
Â
The Pirates will be taking a big group up to Lynchburg, Va. as they looked to continue what has been a successful indoor season to this point – including just last week as the team sent athletes to Virginia Tech and South Carolina.
Â
At Tech, Starrett Vesper starred, just missing the program record in the heptathlon with 4,797 points while Nate Williams, Jared Harrell, Lily Schlossberg and Alyssa Zack all put up top-10 performances in ECU history as well. In South Carolina, Melicia Mouzzon showered her talent once again with the second fastest 200m in program history at 23.65 seconds.

"This is our last to tune up before we compete in the AAC Indoor Track and Field Championships in two weeks," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "It's important that we have a good meet in some event areas that we have not got much accomplished in yet. There will be some great competition at Liberty University this weekend.I have been extremely proud of both teams with the effort and energy that they've competed with up to this point. As I have said many times before, it is very important that we come out of this meet healthy. We are competing with a lot of confidence and momentum going into this weekend."
