
Pirates Win ECU Intercollegiate, Drew O’Neal Takes Second

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina fired a final round 295 to win the team title at the 2024 ECU Intercollegiate. The two-day, 54-hole event was being plated at the Brook Valley Country Club (par-72, 6,803-yards).
"Brook Valley is one of the toughest tests we will face all year," ECU Director of Golf/Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "We were very proud of how mentally strong our guys battled through the tournament to come out with the victory!!
The Pirates (286-298-295=879), who earned their first win of the year and recorded their fourth top three placement, finished two shots ahead of UCF (299-295-287=881) and six ahead of Barton College (291-301-293=885). Rounding out the top five were Temple (297-295-304=896) and Dartmouth (299-297-302=898).
ECU freshman Drew O'Neal (70-72-72=214) recorded his first career top three finish falling one shot behind UCF's Hans Risvaer (75-69-69=213) who carded a tournament score of 3-under par. Barton College's Harrison Wierse (74-75-67=216) and Temple's Graham Chase (72-72-72=216) finished in a tie for third.
Sophomore Lucas Augustsson (70-77-72) and graduate student Ethan Hall (72-77-70) led the Pirates in the team portion with scores of 219 at 3-over par. Junior Carter Busse finished tied for 13th with rounds of 72, 73 and 75 for a 220, while sophomore Philip Linberg Bondestad claimed a share of 16th after posting scores of 72, 73 and 78 for a 223. Junior Tyler DeChellis shot a 19-over 235 (80-75-80) tying for 58th.
Other ECU golfers playing as individuals were freshman Nathan O'Neal (77-70-77=224/t20th), freshman Adam Lennermark (78-77-77=232/t41st) and sophomore Davis DeLille (74-86-81=241/t76th).
The Pirates return to action on Friday, March 29 when they co-host the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate with Elon. The three-day event will be held at the Cutter Creek Country Club.
