Rucker Signs NLI With East Carolina
March 20, 2024 | Men's Golf
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Holden Rucker has signed a national letter of intent to play golf at East Carolina University according to an announcement by director of golf/men's head coach Kevin Williams on Wednesday. Rucker will join Luke Mosely, who officially signed in November of 2023 for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
Â
"We are very happy to add Holden to the 2024 recruiting class," Williams said. "Holden is a workhorse, and he can't get enough of the game. Having seen Holden make big strides the last two years and being the sponge he is, I can't wait to see how much he continues to grow as a Pirate."
Â
A Greenville, N.C. native, Rucker finished second at the 2023 2A State Championships after carding a 3-under score of 141 (68-73). Prior to the championships, the Farmville Central High School product finished third in the 2023 2A East Regionals with a 2-over par 74 advancing to the championships.
Â
Rucker, who won the 2023 Coastal Plains Junior Championship and claimed a Top 10 finish at the 2023 Dogwood Junior Boys event, finished tied for sixth at the 2022 2A State Championships with a score of 155 (11-over) after firing rounds of 78 and 77.
Â
"I am so excited that my next chapter in golf will be playing for the ECU golf team," Rucker said. "After growing up playing and practicing at Ironwood Country Club and being around the golf team I have always wanted to play for the Pirates. This is a dream come true! Go Pirates!!"
