Pirates Set for Raleigh Relays Thursday Through Saturday
March 27, 2024 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field program will be back in action Thursday, March 28 to Saturday, March 30 at the Raleigh Relays hosted by N.C. State at the Paul Derr Track & Field Facility.
The Pirates will be looking to build upon an outdoor opener which featured three event wins and a quartet of new entries in the program's all-time top 10s list. Naadiya Faison starred in her shot put victory with all six of her throws coming in at over 15 meters, all of which would have won the competition and won it by over a meter.
Melicia Mouzzon earned a win in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.38 seconds. That time, while not a personal record, is still faster than any result in program history outside of Mouzzon.
Both Mouzzon and Faison, as well as fellow event winner Rebekah Bergquist who just missed a PR while taking the discus victory, will be back in action this week. Mouzzon will be taking on the 200m this time out, another event in which she stands as one of the best in program history, coming off of a program record in the indoor 200m at the American Athletic Conference Championships.
