Pirates Set for Wake Forest Invitational, Aggie Classic
April 18, 2024 | Track & Field
GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field will be sending groups to Wake Forest and North Carolina A&T on Friday and Saturday for the Wake Forest Invitational and Aggie Classic.
Â
The Aggie Classic will feature two days of competition while the Wake Forest Invite is a one-day event on Friday only. The meets will serve as the Pirates' final outing of the regular season before heading to the American Athletic Conference Championships on May 10-12 in San Antonio, Texas.
Â
The Pirates enter the meet after a successful weekend at the Duke Invitational last time out. Starrett Vesper broke the program record in the decathlon in that meet, a record which had stood for nine years.
Â
Additionally, the Pirate distance group placed four new times in the program's top 10 lists while the men's 4x100m relay team ran the eighth-fastest time in ECU history with their 39.91-second effort.

"This is our last tune-up before we head to the conference championships in two weeks," said Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft. "This will be a great weekend for both teams to improve their marks and move up the conference list. We have had a great outdoor season up to this point, and hopefully this momentum and confidence will continue through this weekend."
