
ECU Closes Out Season Finishing 10th At AAC Championships

BELLAIR, Fla. – East Carolina posted a final round score of 285 (5-over) to finish in 10th place at the AAC Championships on Sunday. The three-day, 54-hole event is being played at the Pelican Golf Club (par 71, 6,881 yards). The Pirates finished the event with a score of 863 (286-292-285) which was 23-over par.
Junior Tyler DeChellis led the Pirates with a share of eighth place after carding a final score of 209 (1-under) that consisted of rounds of 70, 70 and 69. Sophomore Lucas Augustsson took a share 22nd place with a 4-over par 214 (70-74-70), while graduate student Ethan Hall finished tied for 27th at 6-over par (72-71-73).
Junior Carter Busse shot a final score of 224 (74-77-73) finishing 14-over and sophomore Philip Linberg Bondestad claimed a share of 53rd at 15-over par (74-78-73=225).
"Very disappointing finish to a season where we made some nice improvements as a program," ECU Director of Golf/Men's Head Coach Kevin Williams said. "I am very excited about the direction we are headed in and look forward to seeing how our team responds next year. I couldn't be happier for the tournament Tyler DeChellis had this week. He has been working hard and it's great to see the perseverance and hard work rewarded."
South Florida won the team title with a score of 828 (12-under), while SMU (835) took second followed by Wichita State (842) in third place. Rounding out the top five were Memphis (847) and North Texas (853).
