Lunsford-Shenkman Named To NCBWA Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina junior RHP Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman has been selected to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List according to an announcement by the organization Wednesday.

Lunsford-Shenkman currently leads the nation in earned run average (1.00) and has struck out 77 batters against 16 walks in 45.0 innings of work. He has racked up a team-high five saves over a squad second-best 20 appearances and has surrendered just three earned runs in his last 36.2 frames on the bump.

Opposing batters are hitting just .213 against the righty who has registered multiple strikeouts in 17 outings – including a career-high eight in the Pirates' 5-1 victory over Charlotte back on April 13. Of the 35 hits he has allowed, only five have gone for extra bases.

The Stopper of the Year Award winner will be revealed Friday, June 14, at the College World Series in Omaha, Neb.
