
Yesavage Tabbed AAC Pitcher Of The Week

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina junior RHP Trey Yesavage has been named the American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season according to an announcement by the league Monday afternoon.

Yesavage was magnificent in Friday's 4-1 victory at Florida Atlantic, tossing seven scoreless innings while scattering three hits and striking out 11. The Preseason AAC Pitcher of the Year did not surrender an extra base hit while posting double-digit strikeouts for the fourth time this campaign.

Recently selected to the Golden Spikes Award Midseason Watchlist, Yesavage paces the conference in strikeouts (74) and opposing batting average (.168) while slotting third in earned run average (1.86). He also resides among the national leaders in strikeouts (fifth), victories (6/seventh), hits allowed per nine innings (5.21/10th), WHIP (0.87/15th), ERA (15th) and strikeouts per nine innings (13.78/21st).

Senior infielder Carter Cunningham was also named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll after helping the Pirates to a 3-1 week that included a 12-4 road win over NC State – the first ECU win over the Wolfpack in Raleigh since 2009 - and a series victory over FAU in Boca Raton.

Cunningham hit .421 (8-for-19) in the four contests with five runs scored, five RBI, a double and a home run. He also posted a .632 slugging percentage and .450 on base percentage to account for a 1.082 OPS. Cunningham went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI in the win at NC State before notching another three hits and run scored in the middle game of the FAU series. He would polish off the week by driving in two runs Sunday.

East Carolina kicks off a five-game homestand Tuesday, April 9th, with a non-conference matchup versus Elon. First pitch from Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium is scheduled for 6 p.m.
