
Pirates Set for 2024 NCAA East First Round

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina track & field program is set for the 2024 NCAA East First Round meet on Wednesday through Saturday in Lexington, Ky. The Pirates will have athletes in competition in seven individual events and one relay.Â

Royal Burris will kick the meet off on Wednesday as he competes in the first round of the 100m and 200m. He will take the blocks in those events at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. ET, respectively, looking to move on for a shot at his first trip to nationals. Should he advance to the quarterfinal - the final hurdle to get to Eugene - he would compete again on Friday.

Thursday is a busier day for the Pirates with Sydni McMillan opening things up on the women's side in the 100m hurdles at 6 p.m. McMillan will be joined by Melicia Mouzzon who is set to compete in the 100m and 200m. If McMillan and Mouzzon advance, they would be competing again on Saturday with a trip to the NCAA Championships on the line.

The first of two throwers for the Pirates will also begin their competition on Thursday with Naadiya Faison in the shot put at 6:30 p.m.

The final wave of Pirates will be in competition on Saturday with Rebekah Bergquist beginning the day in the discus at 1 p.m. before the women's 4x100m relay team competes at 5 p.m.

The top 12 athletes in each individual event and top 12 relay teams will advance to the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
